We understand with change come a lot of excitement and a lot of questions. It is our goal to exceed your expectations by providing you with more opportunities to train and improve on the field.
Our two clubs will officially become one on July 1, 2022. In the interim both boards are working together in order to ensure a smooth transition. We will begin operation as the new club at the 2022-2023 tryouts and registrations in June.
For a multitude of reasons, all of the clubs have much to gain from becoming one.
● Long term club sustainability
● Increased player talent pool
● Higher quality and competitive teams
● Diversity of levels of play at each age group
● Expanded available training facilities
● Higher quality training
● Larger coaching staff
● Improved coach retention and development
● Future opportunities for higher levels of play (ex. Super-Y, DA, etc)
We strive to be a high-quality regional club, having all the resources of a larger club but without giving up our unique community feel.
As with every other area of life, the cost to run our club has increased too. With the addition of more resources (indoor facilities, coach development, higher level teams and commitments) there will be additional costs. We are working hard to determine the appropriate costs and will release the exact amounts this spring.
Indoor training facilities (Turf), speed & agility training, goalie training, year round training options, classroom film sessions for older players utilizing the Veo camera and software, more/better tournaments
Absolutely. WMG will be committed to helping players in need. We will continue to offer scholarships through a formalized process communicated on our website.
We will have annual tryouts with the focus on fielding the most competitive teams regardless of previous club affiliation. There are always considerations taken into building teams but again we will be looking to field the best team (s) possible. Field availability and number of players from an area would be a consideration but not the sole determining factor.
Coaches from both staffs will remain and will be offered positions on the new club. Higher level coaches will typically be the 1st level coach if there are conflicts
Home field is dependent on various factors (team age, level, etc). Since we are blessed to have access to fields in Caledonia, Middleville, Hastings and at Max Effort, we will certainly use the fields available to us.
We will look at all available options. Consideration on cost, quality of the fields /training area and coaches’ availability.
Our primary uniform colors are Black jerseys and Gray jerseys. Our Galaxy logo includes colors from all surrounding communities
Max Effort will be our winter training facility and small sided opportunities. Our club has been given prime slots for all training. However, utilizing the facilities outside of team training is not included in the fees but our families are welcome to join in order to use the facilities.
No. Current coaches and clubs have a commitment to developing their teams and players through the end of the spring season, this will remain our focus regardless of the merger.
Both TASC and CATS come in with similar numbers of players and Hastings has several teams. Once combined, we are projecting to have 22-28 teams in our inaugural year as West Michigan Galaxy.
Not yet, our two Directors of Coaching will assess the coaches for the best fit for each team later.
Our goal is to try and find a home for kids that want to play soccer. As with any try out model, it all depends on numbers and quality of the players, and will most likely result in new teams being formed with players from both clubs. While there is always a possibility of cuts, we will do our best to find a good fit for your player based on their skill level and dedication. With being a larger club, it gives us the opportunity to introduce programs that each separate clubs have not been able to in the past such as a recreational level for those not quite ready for travel whether from a commitment level or a skill level.
Yes. We will be offering multiple skills camps, and training throughout the year, including during the winter months. There will also be options for developmental player roles within the new structure. These roles will be assessed and offered on an individual basis. Follow our social media pages for information regarding upcoming opportunities.
We will be forming teams from U7-U19, which is ages 6-18.
Our apparel partner, Gazelle Sports, intends to offer patches that can be used to repurpose old gear. Our new club will also offer a great selection of new gear and attire.
Yes. We will be offering a program for younger age groups called Shooting Stars that will help focus on development and fun.
